MAPPING THE “INVISIBLE”
On Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October 2015, a group of our students accompanied by the teachers Mr. Pantazelou Eleni and Mr. Pefani Konstadina, took part in a two days’ workshop organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and leaded by the architect and artist Mr. Stella Bolonaki, titled “mapping the invisible”.
The workshop focused on the detection of hidden aspects of urban life through a certain semiological interpretation of works of art in the public space and the comprehension of the methods used in order to construct and accompany the meanings and symbols of society.
The aim of the workshop was to map the relationships that developed between art, symbols, memory, history and senses in the public space of the city of Athens.

CELEBRATION ON 28th OCTOBER 2015
In the framework of the National Day celebration on 28th October, the Erasmus+ team presented to the students video documents from the Second World War period and a chronicle of the events which took place in our country between 1940 and 1945.
The presentation was followed by a workshop titled: “The effects of World War II in Europe”. During the workshop students discussed about the causes of the raise of fascism in Europe before the outbreak of the W.W II and the devastating effects it had for the whole world.

EVENT ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF 17th NOVEMBER
On
17th
November 2015 an event was held in our school on the anniversary of student’s
uprising against military junta in November 1973.
Students
presented material like videos, newspaper articles, songs and artistic
activities occurred that time. There was a special reference to the poems of
Alexandros Panagoulis (a resistance who was arrested, jailed and tortured
during junta) written while he was in prison, sometimes by using his own blood
instead of ink since everything else was forbidden.
Presentations were
followed by a debate on : what does November of 1973 means for the Greek youth
now days and what its message is during times of crisis like this.

"GREEK CINEMA 1950-1970"
“THE YEARS OF OUR INNOCENCE … ON THE BIG SCREEN”
On May 11, 2016, in our school, there was the presentation of a cultural project entitled “The years of our innocence … on the big screen”.
It was actually a tribute to the golden era of the Greek cinema on which our students had been working throughout the school year.
They collected the digital material of about 20 films of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and they presented scenes, quotes, posters, photographs and videos. Through this material, the audience came in contact with the historic and the artistic events of that period. At the same time students performed characteristic scenes and sang songs of these films.

On May 15, our school was presented, along with another school of Athens, through the television documentary series entitled "Horizon" in Mega channel.
The title of the episode was : " A second sun ", since, according to the Greek philosopher Plato
" education is like a second sun for the people".
Our Erasmus team students, Giorgos Giannousis and Sofia Katsigianni, talked about their experience as students of the Evening High School of Aigaleo and
their participation in the " 70 YEH " Erasmus+ project.
